Aldi Grocery Shop VS Coles Grocery Shop

Aldi Grocery Shop

This week I decided that instead of heading straight over to Coles for my groceries I would go to Aldi instead.

After planning out my meals for the week I made my shopping list and was ready for my first full grocery shop at Aldi. I’ve shopped at Aldi before but have never done my whole weekly shop because the store setup generally takes me longer to find my items as I am not a regular shopper there. I am a creature of habit and know my shopping list by the isle at Coles and usually go there instead.

As shown in the photo above I purchased the following from Aldi:
1 X 600g Dozen eggs = $2.59
1 X 500g Extra Tasty Cheese Block = $5.49
1 X 300g Sour Cream = $1.09
1 X 200g Greek Style Feta= $2.59
1 X 250g Middle Cut Bacon = $2.69
1 X 500g 3 Star Beef Mince = $4.29
1 X 500g Herb & Garlic Beef Sausages =$3.49
1 X 1kg Frozen Corn Kernels = $2.49
1 X Hass Avocado = $1.79
1 X 250g Strawberries = $3.49
1 X Red Capsicum = $0.55 ($2.99 per kg)
1 X 400g Canned Italian Diced Tomato = $0.59
1 X 500g Tomato paste = $1.28
1 X 350g Pancake mix = $1.48
1 X 375g Maple Syrup = $2.49
1 X 300g Tomato Salsa Dip = $1.50
TOTAL: $37.89

I then went to Coles and used my list to figure out how much the same shop would have cost me there. The prices are listed below:
1 X 600g Dozen eggs =$4.20
1 X 500g Tasty Cheese = $4.50
1 X 300g Sour Cream = $1.20
1 X 200g Greek Style Feta = $5.8
1 X 250g Middle Cut Bacon = $3.10
1 X 500g 3 Star Beef Mince = $4.50
1 X 560g Herb & Garlic Beef Sausages =$5.50
1 X 1kg Frozen Corn Kernels = $2.70
1 X Hass Avocado = 2.50 each
1 X 250g Strawberries = $3.98
1 X Red Capsicum = $0.80 ($5.00 per kg)
1 X 400g Canned Italian Diced Tomato = $0.80
1 X 500g Tomato paste = $1.30
1 X 350g Pancake mix = $1.50
1 X 375g Maple Syrup = $2.70
1 X 300g Tomato Salsa Dip = $1.50
TOTAL: $46.58

Although some of the differences in prices are only marginal and may not seem like a lot it is important to highlight the total costs for both shops are what I would call significantly different. This demonstrates clearly that it is those very small marginal differences that ultimately add up.

Therefore Being quite satisfied with my saving of $8.69 I have decided that from now on Aldi is my new shopping destination and would highly suggest to anyone who is looking to save a couple extra dollars here and there to give it a go.
